Oh Toodles (Toodles)

BC Dog - Greyhound - 1 to 4 - Male
On Hold Large Spayed/NeuteredUp-to-date with routine shotshousetrained

Toodles is a very handsome fawn boy, owner surrendered to NCGL in BC. We do not have very much information on him but will update his bio once we check out his racing history.

We do know that he is approximately 2-1/2 years old and came from Ireland. He walks quite well on leash and managed his first set of stairs yesterday. He went into his crate for the night with no issues and seemed quite comfortable.

He’s bonding already with foster Mom, giving off a little growl when the roommates approached to meet him. He responded well to immediate correction.

Toodles will go for his medical assessment, vaccines, and other testing in the next day or two. He will be available for adoption following recovery from neuter and dental procedures.

Foster Update 2017-09-24

Toodles is recovering from his neuter surgery (Sept. 22 ’17). He’s eating and drinking well and his incision is healing nicely.

Toodles is learning his house manners very quickly for such a young pup!!! He has already learned not to rush doorways and gates or jump up. Toodles used to live in an outdoor kennel so he isn’t used to being in a house or walking on leash. Even so, Toodles hasn’t had a single accident in the house.

Leash manners:  Toodles knows how to pace his step right beside you and just slightly behind !!! He also responds to “this way” very reliably. He does find squirrels and other dogs exciting in a puppy-like way. Toodles is waiting patiently until he gets to socialize with other dogs. He can’t wait to play with them! So for now, Toodles walks beautifully with me on leash and plays with his favourite squeaky rooster toy!

When I first met Toodles, nobody had ever given him a treat before so he didn’t know what to do. But now he enjoys eating treats out of my hand.

He’s a big, glamorous boy but very sweet and gentle too, especially inside the house!

Update 2017-10-11

Toodles has been showing some lameness in his right front leg. He was examined  and x-rayed today, the results will be forthcoming in the next day or two.

In the meantime, Toodles will take life easy and see what the prognosis will be. We will update later.
